About The YYFAP Preschool

The YYFAP Preschool is an affordable program for children ages 3-6. Tuesday and Thursday mornings are filled with a combination of structured and open activities. Wednesday morning is Indoor Park day, when registered preschoolers are joined by other children, ages 0-6, and their parents. Teachers Kelly Everfree and Robin Murphy lead engaging activities in math, pre-writing, music, peaceful communications, yoga, and nutrition. Science activities use hands-on learning such as role-playing, sorting, measuring, drama, and games to teach about the natural world and biological needs for warmth and shelter. The Early Childhood Education programs of the Yachats Youth & Family Activities Program are funded by the Children's Trust Fund of Oregon, the City of Yachats, participant fees, and many individual donors and volunteers.

Preschool provides parents with respite for 9 hours each week during the school year. The teacher is very accessible, and offers much advice, support, information, and referrals to parents. She focuses on forging positive supportive relationships with parents and children. Fees are assessed on a sliding scale, and scholarships are available in order to make the program accessible to those most in need. Preschool families are very likely to participate in our family activities, including family nights, and parent education. The children tend to stay involved in YYFAP activities as they grow up.
